ANNEX. PRIME MINISTER. I saw tonight Staff Colonel Solberg of the U.S. Army, who between January and September, 1941, has been in plain clothes in North Africa with the full knowledge of his Government, General Weygand and other important persons. Colonel Solberg told me things of deep historical interest including the statement to him from Governor Boisson of Dakar that when our Fleet broke off the engagement, Governor Boisson was writing out his surrender as he had only a few rounds left for the guns of the French Fleet and shore defences.
