As regards the coastal belt for which Home Forces were responsible, it was convenient to consider the Intelligence organisation of Home Forces as being part of the War Office itself. Therefore it would be unreasonable to expect the "ROUND-UP" Planning Staff to go through the process of applying for their Intelligence to I.S.(O) who in turn would have to consult the country Sections of the Ministries as regards areas outside the coastal belt, and would have to consult Home Forces for Intelligence within that belt.
