3. SCALE OF ATTACK ON THE BASRA/ABADAN AREA. COLONEL LAMPLOUGH drew attention to Telegram No. (P.I.)5 of the 7th December, 1942, addressed by the Chiefs of Staff to the Commander-in-Chief, Persia and Iraq, in paragraph 4 of which appeared a repetition of the appreciation of the enemy air threat to that area stated in D.I.O.(42) 119 of September, 1942. He pointed out that this scale of attack was no longer valid and it was misleading to give the impression that the Sub-Committee still endorsed it.
