3. INTELLIGENCE IN THE FAR EAST. (Previous Reference: J.I.C.(41) 35th Meeting, Item 5). THE SUB-COMMITTEE had before them comments prepared by the junior members of the Sub-Committee upon a letter (No. C.S. 1109/030 dated 31st October, 1941) from the Far Eastern Combined Intelligence Bureau to the Directors of Intelligence. Since the letter from the Far East had been received, the British Empire and the United States had become involved in war in the Far East. This changed the situation and there seemed little advantage in taking further action on this matter at the present time.
