TOP SECRET ANNEX "A" COPY OF NOTE FROM DIRECTOR, JOINT INTELLIGENCE BUREAU (Ref. B/1102/115) TO SECRETARY, JOINT PLANNING STAFF DATED 20TH MAY, 1949 Beach Reconnaissance Germany In November, 1948, JIC (Germany) stated that the beaches of Germany should be properly reconnoitred in the Spring of 1949, and at their request, JIB obtained information from DNI and other sources on the personnel and equipment required to carry out this task. JIC (Germany) then stated that agencies in Germany were unable to meet this commitment and asked us whether we considered the beaches of the British occupied zone should be the subject of a reconnaissance, and also whether we would approach Combined Operations with a view to their providing assistance and instruction.
