Communist Influence in the Far East. Report by the Joint Intelligence Committee

1 Oct 1948

5. COMMUNIST INFLUENCE IN THE FAR EAST (TOP SECRET) J.I.C.(48) 113 (Final) THE COMMITTEE considered a report by the Joint Intelligence Committee covering a comprehensive survey of Communist influence in the Far East. SIR ARTHUR SANDERS, referring to paragraph 12 of Annex I said he was not convinced that Chinese communities in the Far East, outside China, would necessarily be influenced by the regime in power in China itself. He thought it more likely that the activities of Chinese communities would be influenced mainly by their own prosperity and the conditions in their country of residence.
