A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on France: that Allied tank units are in Le Mans, and making a demand for infantry to mop up the city; and that the 86th Corps is to withdraw to a new line; from the French representative in London, regarding damage in France in the course of the fighting, on August 4; of Argentinean impressions of, and comments on, Churchill's statement in the House of Commons, on August 3; from the Japanese minister in Bucharest, that the situation in Romania was critical during July, that people's fighting spirit had virtually disappeared but it could be roused in the event of a Soviet attack, on July 31; and from the Portuguese chargé in Ankara, on the situation in the Balkans, as of August 5.
