This file contains a message from C to the Prime Minister (PM); and the following reports on Western Europe: a report from the Sea Defence Commandant for Normandy, for June 8, stating that a German land attack was brought to a standstill on the line from St Mere Eglise-East of Montebourg-Reville with its southern edge at Azeville-Marcouf; that a German Air Force (GAF) fighter unit formerly in north Germany was addressed in Evreux, on June 6; that shipping was evacuated from Granville to Jersey by the evening of June 7; of the Admiral for the Atlantic warning Brittany of an Allied shipping concentration in the Jersey area late on June 7; and that preparations for the demolition of Granville harbour have started.
