This file includes the following reports on West Europe: of a proclamation by Admiral Doenitz calling for the utmost effort from every man in the navy against the expected Allied invasion, on April 17 - the Prime Minister (PM) orders this to be shown to the U.S. President and Eisenhower; on the Southern Russian Front: of the ground situation in Sevastopol, on the evening of April 17; of German Air Force (GAF) fighters being forced to transfer from Sevastopol, with an urgent need for ammunition; and that the reason for the non-evacuation of the Roumanian troops is to be reported, on April 17 and 19; and that the GAF station at Sevastopol is closing on April 20; on Germany: of an Allied raid on Aachen on the night of April 11-12; on Europe: an Army General Staff situation report, for April 14, stating that large numbers of guerillas were killed in north Italy; and that the 18th SS Panzer Division is moving from Croatia to Hungary; Naval Headlines; from the Portuguese chargé in Roumania, regarding air attacks on Roumania, on April 21; from the French delegate in Ankara, to DiploFrance in Algiers, on the destruction of Sofia, and that the Soviets are awaited but the Bulgarian leaders do not appear to have altered their political policy, as of April 16.
