Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on Western Europe: a situation report for the 243rd Division, that it is holding its position probably from just south of the break-through to the west coast of the Cherbourg Peninsula, on June 18; of Hitler's strategy for holding the Allied forces at Cherbourg, on June 18; of German attacks east of the Orne being held up by concentrated Allied naval gunfire, on June 17; and that the Germans consider that a major orchestrated Resistance operation is under way in Brittany, on June 18.
