A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on Southern Europe: that the 278th Infantry Division from Istria is taking over the Adriatic coastal sector although earlier evidence had suggested that the 334th Division was to be employed in this role; the Prime Minister (PM) comments on this and some correspondence follows; a German intelligence summary for May 16, covering the 305th Division withdrawing from the front line of the 10th Army, and Allied air attacks against lines of communication in Italy and against Italian ports; and that it is impossible to provide any future German Air Force (GAF) ground attack sorties to support the Axis ground forces in Italy because of Allied air superiority and the fact that most GAF ground attack aircraft were now out of action.
