Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on Southern Europe: of two fighter units being bombed out of airfields in the Rome area, and that they are to withdraw to northern Italy, on September 19; of the German Embassy in Rome being attacked with machine guns and grenades on September 17; and that Bastia harbour in Corsica is to be made ready for its complete destruction, on September 21; on South-east Europe: that a German naval vessel is to operate against Allied surface forces at the beginning of Corfu operations, on September 20; on the Russian Front: of the Russians attacking places 40 miles north-east of Kiev on September 19; and a reconnaissance situation report for September 19; Naval Headlines; and from the Japanese ambassador in Berlin, recounting an interview with Steengracht and the German view of the war situation, on September 18.
