This file includes the following reports on North Africa: a German report of December 12; from the Bulgarian minister in Rome, that Goering is meeting Rommel and Kesselring to discuss the defence of Italy, on December 10; from Portugal to its ambassador in London, sending British information on Spanish peace overtures, on December 11 (see 1729); from the Japanese acting ambassador in Rome, on the decline of Italian morale in the face of military defeats and air raids, but that the Fascist government will stand firm with support from its Axis partners, on December 7; and Naval Headlines, covering the sabotaging of ships in Bordeaux, North African shipping and supplies to Spain.
