Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on North Africa: that the 15th Panzer Division is ordered to leave its battle group in order to cover the withdrawal of the Mareth garrison, on March 27; that the 15th Panzer Division occupies the defensive flank, on March 27; that the 164th Light Division expects an Allied attack during the night of March 27-28; and that German Air Force (GAF) assets intercepted by Spitfires over Axis territory were forced to jettison their bombs during an intended daylight attack, on March 27; on the Mediterranean: a report on a GAF attack on an Allied convoy, on March 27; and that six Axis aircraft are missing out of the 14 which attacked shipping in Algiers harbour, on March 27; on the North Atlantic: that an Allied convoy, believed to be bound for Murmansk, was sighted by a German submarine south-east of Greenland, on March 27; and on the Russian Front: that the Germans claim the recapture of Sevsk, on March 27.
