Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on North Africa: a German Air Force (GAF) Tunis air recce report for November 25; that the Naval Command in Tunisia expects an Allied attack on Tebourba and Mateur on November 26; a GAF report on the Allies' intended thrust to Gabes, on November 25; that Panzer Army supply offices are to be set up at Tunis and Gabes but Tripoli is still to be used as the main supply route; on North Africa: that the Italian naval HQ was hit during an air raid on Bizerta on the night of November 24/25; the Naval Command in Tunisia reports on the supplies unloaded at Bizerta on November 25; the Air Officer Commanding (AOC) in Chief South reports an Allied advance on Tunisia and their intentions on November 26; a GAF report on enemy activity in Tunisia for November 25; of GAF operations in support of the Panzer Army on November 25; of the Panzer Army's view on U.S. tanks, including the superior range of Sherman's guns, with an appeal to Berlin for more powerful tanks and more 7.5 cms anti-tank guns; and of a Panzer Army request for railway improvements on November 22; on the Mediterranean: that the Germans fear that prisoners may overpower the crew of a ship unless a destroyer escort is provided, on November 25; and a German report on the air, sea and harbours for November 25; on the Southern Russian Front: a GAF report for November 24, describing strong enemy moves against the encircled German 6th Army; that the GAF Chief of the Air Staff (CAS) orders air transport units to supply the German 6th Army; and that the German Navy are unable to transport supplies to Novorossisk because of the military situation, on November 23; and from the Portuguese minister in Berlin, an optimistic report on the German situation in North Africa, on November 20.
