A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on North Africa: of the Tunis Air Corps' understanding of the front line on the Mareth and Gafsa fronts, as of March 22; of the Tunis Air Corps' combat plans for March 22, stating that there are to be no daytime air strikes from Sicily against Tunisia on this day as the distance is too great and the forward deployment runway at Sfax was too soft and that at Gabes was too much threatened by the Allies; of the 5th Panzer Army's supply situation as at March 17, describing rations, fuel and ammunition as all in short supply; of a complaint from a German Air Force (GAF) official to Kesselring that certain GAF authorities were not supplying fighters for convoy escort duties on March 22; Naval Headlines; from the Japanese ambassador in Berlin, a request to Tokyo on March 8 to discover the truth about reports that although Chiang Kai Shek was supporting the Allied cause the Allies were not supporting him as they should, and also the truth of reported defections from the Chungking side to the pro-Japanese Nanking regime; and a reply sent by Tokyo to Berlin on March 18 stating that no leading Chungking personality had yet joined the Nanking government but going in to great detail on the surrender of Chungking troops and other general facts about the Chungking regime.
