This file includes the following reports on the Mediterranean/Southern Europe: that the transfer of the Hermann Goering Division from Italy to Sicily is proceeding slowly as at June 21; more details of the units being transferred to Sicily, on June 21; of an approach to a train ferry being destroyed in an Allied air raid on Reggio, on June 21; that German Air Force (GAF) airfields and installations in Sicily, Sardinia and southern Italy are to be prepared for instant destruction to prevent them from being used by the Allies, on June 22; on the planned disposition of Axis fortress battalions on Sicily, on June 21; serious damage is reported in Naples on June 22 following an Allied raid; of the results of Allied air attacks against Reggio, Palermo, Messina and San Giovanni, on June 19 and 21; that the GAF 2nd Air Corps is moving from Sicily to Salerno, on June 21; of readiness alert stage 2 in the vicinity of Sicily and in effect on June 20 being cancelled on the 21st; a report of June 19 giving detailed plans for all Axis shipping movements in the Aegean and Adriatic areas for the week of June 20-27; that the GAF are aware of Allied landing exercises off Bizerta on June 22, with the GAF to reconnoitre the area on the 23rd; that a GAF VIP is visiting Romania on June 24, with the German station commanders there to meet for a conference that day; a detailed report of Axis and guerilla activity in Yugoslavia and Greece on June 19; and that more bridges were sabotaged in Greece, on June 21; on 11 fronts: that Hitler orders the German General Staff to inspect coastal anti-tank defences in all areas apart from the Russian Front, on June 19; and on the Russian Front: of Axis air attacks against Russian military and industrial targets, on June 20-21.
