This file includes the following reports: on 1st Panzer Group claims to have taken 185,000 prisoners between September 13 and 23; on orders for the 11th Army to break through strong Soviet defences on the Isthmus of Perekop, and to take possession of the Crimean Peninsula, supported by the 4th and 5th Air Corps; on orders for the 17th Army to attack Kharkov; a report of an Italian convoy with air support off Benghazi on September 24; a report of a night raid on Tobruk; on orders for General Von Pohl, chief German Air Force (GAF) liaison officer in Italy, to attend a conference on September 24; a 10th Air Corps request for files, information, guide books and maps on Turkey from September 23; a report that the SS Metz was sunk in the North Sea during a bombing attack on September 20; and a message from the Japanese ambassador in Moscow reporting on the situation in Russia, and that the embassy was making preparations for emergencies.
