A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports: on the delaying by bad road conditions of an ammunition train requested for Novogorod-Severski; on 10th Air Corps anxieties that lorries intended for Africa should not be unloaded from the SS Tinos to make way for fighters previously loaded onto the SS Bellona; on instructions for the 10th Air Corps to provide recce cover for two ships leaving Naples for Benghazi carrying aviation fuel and oil, and for the SS Oriani sailing from Patras to Benghazi on September 11; a message that cross-country vehicles were urgently needed for German police units marooned in Stanislav by the flooding of the River Dniester; and a message from the Japanese ambassador in Rome reporting a meeting with an Italian minister who had visited the Ukrainian Front - perhaps accompanying Mussolini who had recently had a meeting with Hitler - and expected the German army to reach the Caucasus within a few days.
