This file includes the following reports: that the Germans are expecting a Soviet effort in the Wjasma area (east of Smolensk), with details of the outer defensive ring round Moscow; of fighting north-east of Kursk; of slow German progress towards Kharkov (a 6th Army report); of orders to the 9th Army Corps in the Central Front; and a report to the 2nd Panzer Army and Panzer Gruppe 3 by Panzer Gruppe in the Central Front. This file also includes the following reports on the Central Front: a report to Army HQ from Panzer Gruppen 2 and 4 on advances by the 5th, 56th and 41st Army Corps; a report to the Supreme Command of the Army, that the 2nd Panzer Army and Panzer Gruppe 3, the 57th Panzer Corps and 12th Army Corps together with the 13th Army have been resubordinated to the 4th Army for an operation to the north east; a fragmentary report to the Supreme Command of the Army, of plans involving the 40th and 46th Panzer Corps, 7th Army Corps, 12th Army Corps and 40th Panzer Corps, and the bombing line of locations on the Moscow-Ukraine railway in front of the 4th Army; that the 1st Panzer Army has taken Marinpol, and Luftflotte 4 is to bomb the railways; of strong Soviet air opposition over Marinpol; and of German ground and air operations in the Vyasma-Rjer area on the Central Front. This file also contains reports on the transport of manganese ore on the Danube; and a report from the Italian Naval Command in Benghazi on the results of an attack in the Giuliana area.
