Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on the Leningrad Front: little activity was reported on October 17; a situation report from the 17th Army HQ on October 17 stating that the 52nd Army Corps was facing superior Soviet forces, the right wing of the 11th Army Corps was advancing against stubborn resistance, and Soviet forces were retreating in front of Groupe von Schwedler but reinforcing opposition to the right flank of the 34th Army Corps; a report from Army Group Centre to the 9th Army of October 16 giving dispositions and locations in the drive towards Moscow from the north west; situation reports from the 9th Army that Soviet forces continue to withdraw to the north and north east; a report of German forces being close to Kalinin, with their mobility severely hampered by road conditions; a situation report of October 17 that the 40th Panzer Corps is advancing on Mozhaisk with slow progress along the front due to weather conditions; reports of airfields in Greece and Crete being unserviceable because of soft ground on October 18; a report of German Air Force (GAF) Africa preparations for operations against sea targets, convoy protection and reconnaissances along the Libyan coast; and air cover is to be provided for the convoy Junak sailing from Benghazi to Brindisi.
