Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. The file includes the following reports on the Mediterranean and North Africa: a strength return for the German Air Force (GAF) 10th Air Corps from December 5; a GAF 10th Air Corps refusal of Condor aircraft in place of Ju52, a proposal that a group be based at Skaramanga and details of anti-aircraft defences on Crete from December 4; a GAF 2nd Air Fleet Rome report of fighter reinforcements to move to Molaoi in Greece or to Africa on December 4; intelligence of fuel being laid down at Molaoi and fighters being air transported on December 6; orders from Kesselring to the GAF to annihilate shipping targets off Tobruk on December 5; intelligence of Kesselring's plan to visit Crete on December 7 en route to Africa, and of GAF fighter reinforcement for the 10th Air Corps to move to Greece on December 5; intelligence that personnel, other than flying personnel, and officers on leave in Germany are to be held back from returning on December 4; a GAF report that a new fuel tank at Benghazi is ready for filling in early December; intelligence that a GAF bomber group was to be replaced as of December 4; a report of an Italian fighter group being transferred to Africa on December 5; intelligence that the GAF and the Italian Air Force are to cooperate in operations and reconnaissance against Trigh el Abd and Tobruk from December 4; a report on GAF air operations up to December 4, noting the capture of two New Zealand divisions on December 3; a denial from the GAF that the British are blocking the coastal road on December 5; intelligence that the GAF intend constant attacks on withdrawing British troops in cooperation with the Italian Air Force on December 3; a report that a new type of Ju87 was en route to Bari for Africa on December 5; a GAF Ju52 was to carry out special operations, possibly dropping supplies or parachutists, on the night of December 6-7; a report of low GAF fuel stocks for December 4; GAF arrangements for the transport of supplies by sea and air via Greece and Crete from December 3; and a report of GAF operations and reconnaissance on December 3-4.
