A file containing documents relating to the Sino-Soviet split. Subjects covered in the file include Albanian press attacks on the anti-Albanian policies of Nikita Khrushchev, the Soviet leader; possible ways that the West could benefit from disunity in the Sino-Soviet bloc; and rumours that the Chinese government was circulating a pamphlet on Stalinism in Moscow. Other issues discussed include decreases in Chinese-Polish trade as a result of the withdrawal of Polish economic aid, which was delivered through trade; NATO discussions on the dispute; the postponement of a session of the Supreme Soviet of the Soviet Union; and a visit by the British prime minister to Washington, during which Sino-Soviet relations were to be discussed. Documents in the file include an Albanian newspaper containing an assessment of the first year of Albanian-Chinese cooperation; a Japanese paper on foreign communist parties' reactions to the split; and correspondence about a Chinese-Soviet hydroelectric project.
