Northern (N): Czechoslovakia (NC). Cultural Exchanges between Czechoslovakia and UK

1956

A file of correspondence on Anglo-Czechoslovak cultural relations. The file discusses invitations for the British Museum's keeper of musical manuscripts to attend a conference on Mozart in Prague; for British ministers to attend a reception for the Czechoslovak Philharmonic Orchestra at the Czechoslovak embassy in London; and for an English organisation to take part in an exhibition of children's drawings organised by the Czechoslovak Esperanto Circle. The file also contains a draft for an "inspired" question in the British Parliament which would give the British government an opportunity to make clear its position on communist front organisations such as the British-Soviet Friendship Society.
