Soviet Union: Official Visits from the UK to the Soviet Union

The principal subject covered in the file is a programme of unofficial Anglo-Soviet politico-military talks held in Moscow in September 1982. Aspects of this subject discussed include an invitation to a British Army officer, Lord Carver; a previous round of talks held in Edinburgh in 1981, which issued a "decidedly biased" communiqué; the view that the former president of the Great Britain-U.S.S.R.
