Bulgaria: Internal Economic Situation in Bulgaria

A file of correspondence and reports concerning the internal economic situation in Bulgaria. The documents cover the results of the economic plan for 1980; the budget and economic plan for 1981, including estimates of defence expenditure; results for the first six months of the 1980 plan; and debates on the plan for 1982 and the five-year plan for 1981–1985. Statistics are provided on national income, industrial production, agricultural production, capital investment, labour productivity, internal trade, and foreign trade. Other documents in the file include an annual report on the Bulgarian economy for 1980 compiled by the European community; and a list of Bulgarian construction projects of national significance. The file also covers a new decree aimed at reducing the levels of food and consumer goods being exported by tourists and small traders for resale in neighbouring countries.
