A file of correspondence and reports concerning the Soviet economy. The documents cover the results of the Soviet economic plan for 1978; the results of the economic plan for 1979; and the plan and budget for 1980, covering national income, industry, energy, agriculture, defence, living standards, and foreign trade. Other documents in the file cover speeches delivered on the economy by the Soviet leader, Leonid Brezhnev; press reports on the Soviet five-year plan for 1981–1985, which includes proposals for the rapid realisation of scientific and technical innovation; and press reports on the failings of the chemical industry.
