North Korea (Korean: 조선/朝鮮, MR: Chosŏn; literally 북조선/北朝鮮, MR: Pukchosŏn, or 북한/北韓, RR: Bukhan in South Korean usage), officially the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK or DPR Korea; Korean: 조선민주주의인민공화국/朝鮮民主主義人民共和國, Chosŏn Minjujuŭi Inmin Konghwaguk), is a country in East Asia constituting the northern part of the Korean Peninsula.
