A file of meeting minutes and memoranda relating to the British government's plans to rehouse civil servants in London and to requisition boarding schools for military purposes. Subjects covered in the file include the transfer of civil servants to buildings that are protected from air raids; and shortages in accommodation available for government offices and departments. Other subjects covered include concerns over public opinion on the requisitioning of boarding schools; the neglect of the education of schoolchildren; the relocation of schoolchildren to reception areas; and concern for the living conditions and welfare of the evacuated schoolchildren. Documents in the file include statistical data on the space available in government departments for reallocation; and discussion of the establishment of both telecommunications research and air defence development research in the evacuated boarding schools.
