INTERDEPARTMENTAL COMMITTEE ON FOOD PRICES C.F.P. 1. Memorandum on Food Price Policy in relation to Wages and the Cost of Living 1. Retail food prices, as measured by the Ministry of Labour's index, have risen 12 per cent since September 1st and if present replacement costs are to be covered further increases (of which details are given in the Appendix) will be necessary, bringing the total increase since the beginning of the war to 20 per cent. A considerable part of this increase is needed in order that the Ministry of Food may be able to balance its trading accounts in cereals, feeding-stuffs, meat and dairy produce.
