MINERS' OUTPUT BONUS. Memorandum by the Minister of Labour.

4. Summary of the Board's Report. A summary of the main conclusions reached is given in paragraph 39 of the Report. It will be seen that the Board think that some scheme for an output bonus should be continued, but that a Pit Scheme would have distinct advantage over a District Scheme in providing incentive to greater production. The difficulties of operating a Pit Scheme should not be insurmountable, but some additional staff and cost would be involved. There could be either a simple Pit Scheme or a combined District and Pit Scheme.
