On the 6th May, 1943, the Lord President's Committee set up an ad hoc Committee composed of the Lord Privy Seal (as Chairman), the Secretary of State for Scotland, the Minister or Health, the Lord Advocate and the Attorney General. We were asked to consider as a matter of urgency all possible methods of controlling rents for furnished lets in Scotland and to submit recommendations as soon as possible. 2.
