A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports on Italy: on the 1st Parachute Corps' boundaries; on the subordinations of the 14th Panzer Corps, on June 8; and that depleted units are to be combined to make up full battalions and regiments, from June 4; Naval Headlines, covering that ten U-boats in a patrol in the Bay of Biscay are to form the Tiger Group and be deployed to intercept an expected convoy, then redeployed closer to the coast; that U-boats are to lay mines off Plymouth and Falmouth; that U-boats with schnorkels were ordered to attack heavy traffic in the Channel; that the destruction of Santo Stefano was completed, on June 8, with the possibility of destroying harbour installations at Marseilles being investigated; that the Japanese cruisers Aoba and Kinu with other shipping are standing by in the Sorong-Waigeo Island area prior to going to Biak Island or Maonokwari with reinforcements for the north west New Guinea area; that Japanese tankers are returning to the south-west area in ballast carrying aircraft; and that nine Japanese escort vessels were reported to have been damaged by Allied submarines; from the Japanese minister in Madrid, regarding Allied policy towards France, on June 3; and from the Japanese ambassador in Vichy, giving the views of the German Embassy on the Allied invasion, on June 7.
