Government Code and Cypher School: Signals Intelligence Passed to the Prime Minister, Messages and Correspondence

A file of signals intelligence reports, messages, and correspondence issued by the Government Code and Cypher School and sent by the head ('C') of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) to the Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This file includes the following reports: a German Air Force (GAF) operational report for June 12; that the Panzer Army's intentions for June 13 include the pursuit of Allied forces retiring on Tobruk; that the Panzer Army are unable to comply with a GAF request for a surprise attack on British airfields; a report on Italian forces' supply and transport difficulties, on June 7; that Axis forces are at a high state of alert in anticipation of air borne attacks especially on airfields and supply dumps on June 12; a German naval report for June 12 for all areas; on the Southern Russian Front: a Sevastopol report for June 12; Naval Headlines, covering increased vigilance in the Channel Isles on June 12, with Boulogne and Dunkirk defence vessels being alerted; an Italian naval appreciation of the Mediterranean, on June 12; Italian reports of the Romanian military assessment of German plans in Russia, on June 9; the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs seeks clarification of rumoured peace talks between the U.K. and Germany on June 8; the Portuguese minister in Pretoria reports alarm following the sinking of Allied ships off Portuguese south Africa and a submarine attack on Madagascar, on June 10; a Turkish report from Tokyo on pressure being put on Japan to attack Russia, on June 10; a Turkish report from Madrid on the recall of all German commercial aircraft to Berlin on June 16; a Turkish report that the Germans consider the capture of Tobruk to be of the utmost importance, on June 10; and a Turkish report from Stockholm of the assembly of German warships at Narvik, on June 10.
