Subjects covered in the file include the visit of president Sukarno and the prime minister of Indonesia, Djuanda Kartawidjaja, to Hungary. The president was afforded a state visit, which included receptions, gala performances, wreath laying, and visits to places of interest. The speeches heralded the imminent collapse of colonialism and praised Indonesia in its struggle for independence. A joint communiqué was issued condemning colonialism and apartheid; defending Indonesian claims to West Irian; announcing the extension of trade and cultural relations; and publicising the raising of diplomatic relations between the two countries to embassy level. A later visit by the Indonesian prime minister included receptions, gala performances, talks with government representatives, and the presentation of an award.
