Other documents in the file cover the signing of a treaty of friendship between the Soviet Union and Syria; a proposal that the Soviet Union become involved in a European initiative on the Israeli-Palestinian situation; and reports of a Soviet military stockpile in Libya. The file also covers discussions on U.K. policy on the Middle East; Soviet proposals for joint Anglo-Soviet discussions on the Middle East; and U.K. media relations with seven Middle Eastern nations.
