The documents cover visits to Britain by Soviet trade union leaders including Boris Averyanov, the head of the International Department, and Petr Pimenov, the secretary of the All-Union Central Council of Trade Unions. Documents in the file include personality reports on the visiting Soviet delegations; and briefs on the Soviet trade unions, covering their structure, governing bodies, history, and role in Soviet politics. The file also covers invitations issued to members of the British Trades Union Congress (T.U.C.) to visit the Soviet Union; a T.U.C. invitation extended to the Soviet politician Aleksandr Shelepin; and a Soviet article on British-Soviet trade union relations.
